What does an Amazon FBA prep centre do?

An FBA prep centre receives your stock from your supplier, inspects it, applies the FNSKU and shipping labels Amazon requires, packs each unit to Amazon specification and ships it into a UK fulfilment centre. It exists because Amazon rejects or charges for stock that arrives wrong.

In practice that means four jobs. Receiving and counting what your supplier sent. Checking condition, expiry dates, sizes and weights and photographing anything damaged. Preparing each unit, which depending on the product means an FNSKU label, a polybag with a suffocation warning, bubble wrap or bundling. Then getting it into Amazon, which means carton or pallet labelling, a booked delivery slot and the paperwork that goes with it.

How much does FBA prep cost per unit in the UK?

There is no single per unit price, because the cost depends on what each product needs. Our handling fee is 18p per unit and an FNSKU label is 15p, so the cheapest complete prep is 33p per unit. A polybagged unit is 58p. A bubble wrapped unit is 83p.

Those figures are worked from the rate card on our pricing page, not estimated. The handling fee of 18p already covers receiving, visual inspection, photographs of any damage, expiry, size and weight information, up to 7 days of storage while your volume stays under 1 CBM, preparation for shipping and booking the UPS collection. Here is the arithmetic for the three most common jobs.

Worked from our published rate card. Oversized units over 40cm, items over 1kg, goods valued between £40 and £100 and anything electrical are quoted separately at 50p per unit plus a tailored rate. Confirm your exact mix with us before you ship.

Why per unit quotes are hard to compare

A headline price like "from 13p per unit" is usually the label fee on its own. It rarely includes receiving and inspection, packaging materials, storage before dispatch, or the booking and paperwork to get a pallet into Amazon. Those are separate lines almost everywhere.

When you compare prep centres, ask for the total cost of one finished unit of your actual product, delivered into FBA, including the carton or pallet. That is the only number that matters. We publish every line that makes up ours so you can build that total yourself before you contact us. There is no monthly subscription fee on any package.

What does it cost to send a pallet into Amazon FBA?

A standard pallet into a UK Amazon fulfilment centre is £75 all inclusive from our depot. That covers the 120 by 100cm pallet itself, labelling and palletising your parcels, wrapping foil, the outside shipping labels, the FBA slot booking and the bill of lading.

Can you receive Amazon removals and returns?

Yes. You can use our Sheffield address as the removal address on your Amazon removal orders. The service is £13.99 per month per SKU and covers up to 200 units of standard size stock. Oversize removals are quoted separately.

This is useful when Amazon is about to charge you long term storage fees, when a listing is suppressed and you need the stock out, or when you want returned units inspected and relabelled before they go back in. We check what arrives and tell you what is resaleable.

How fast is turnaround?

Most standard products are prepped within a few hours to 24 hours of arriving at our depot. If you have a deadline, tell us before the stock lands and we will confirm whether we can commit to it for your volume.

Who uses us, and do I need a prep centre at all?

You do not strictly need a prep centre. Amazon lets you prep your own stock. Sellers use one when the volume stops fitting around a kitchen table, when stock ships direct from a supplier abroad, or when a rejected shipment has already cost them more than the prep would have.

We work with private label sellers, wholesale and retail arbitrage sellers, FBM sellers who need someone to hold and dispatch stock, and overseas sellers who need a UK address to import into. We have worked with over 110 clients and prepped more than 30,000 products since 2022, and we have unlocked more than 50 gated categories for sellers.

Which marketplaces do you prep for?

Amazon FBA and FBM, TikTok Shop, eBay and Shopify, plus general ecommerce and dropship orders. The receiving, checking and storage side is the same for all of them. What changes is the labelling and packing standard each platform demands.
